the (messy) hands behind LGF Pottery
Hi! I’m Leslie.
Info about me that you should read if you want to get it right at Trivia Night.
How it started.
I never dreamt this would be my job. I’d like to first and foremost say that. I grew up in a household of creatives, but never included myself in that lineup. Fast forward to college, I got my hands in clay and well, they just kinda stayed there. (DRY AF). Since then I’ve converted two different homes into my studio! You know EXACTLY where I’ve been in my house throughout the day. Just follow the clay dust footprints.
How it’s going.
Tell you the truth, my favorite activity is the actual throwing process. Maybe because it’s instant gratification? You throw, you see the product. But sculpting has becoming a new found love. It’s wildly tedious and my neck is wrecked after hours of sculpting (how do dental hygienists work like that all day??), but the finished product is soo beyond gratifying. Also, staring at a sweet angel’s face with an underbite or bulging eyes makes it a little better. “Pet Mugs” have taken over, so that’s mainly what I offer at artisan markets. Custom orders are by request!
Fun fact: The first time I made a “Dog Mug“ was in 2020. My sister was the first to get COVID19 in my family, which felt scary. So to cheer her up, I sculpted her very special Boston Terrier, Gertrude, and put her on a mug! BIG HIT. (Also, grateful for sculpting growth…)
Free time?
Hmmm.. that feels rare, but when I do have free time, you’ll find me playing soccer or on an airplane. Definitely not putting away my clean laundry that’s been sitting on “the chair” for a week.
The BIG picture.
Love God. Love People. Love Animals.
I’m hoping to pair with pet stores/animal shelters so a proceed of sales get’s donated to them. I’m also extremely passionate about the misuse of collars. I’d like to educate pet owners on the importance of walking your pet with a harness, not a neck collar. Stay tuned for a nonprofit in the works? Maybe? Fingers crossed!
